CORSETS & WASPIES A/W25
- Never submerge in water, even cold or with mild detergent — silk will water-stain, and metal beads or thread can tarnish or rust.
- Hand washing or spot-washing silk + beading is risky because moisture can weaken silk threads that hold beads in place.
Professional Dry Clean Only
- Always take your corset to a specialist dry cleaner who handles silk eveningwear or bridal garments.
-
Ask them to:
- Use a gentle solvent process
- Protect beading with mesh covers or spot treatments
- Avoid pressing directly on beads or boning
At Home Spot Maintenance (Between wears)
If you need to freshen it up between professional cleanings:
- Lay the corset flat on a clean towel.
- Use a soft, barely damp white cloth to gently blot (not rub) any areas with body oils or makeup.
- For odor: hang in a well-ventilated area, away from sunlight, and let fresh air do the work.
- Optional: lightly mist the inside (not outer silk) with fabric refresher for delicates (alcohol-free).
Drying and Storing
- Never tumble dry or steam.
- If slightly damp (from spot cleaning), lay flat on a towel until air-dry.
- Store flat or gently rolled in acid-free tissue paper inside a breathable garment bag.
- Avoid hanging by straps — weight can distort the shape over time.
