DE&I and Accessibility
The activities of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) program include ensuring that our platforms are accessible to people of all abilities, including those who use assistive technology.
Accessibility of ScarlettGasque.com
Since 2020, the Scarlett Gasque Group has been working with an external partner, a leader in web accessibility, to test, correct, and maintain our website in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and international web accessibility regulations.
Our goal is progressive alignment with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. To achieve this, we have established a program to embed accessibility as an essential requirement throughout the full lifecycle of our digital platforms.
Since 2021, we have carried out the following activities on a regular basis:
-
Design analysis to ensure graphic elements meet accessibility requirements.
-
Accessibility audits to validate site and code compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA, identifying violations and areas for improvement.
-
User testing with individuals of differing abilities to confirm accessibility in real use cases, including:
-
Searching and filtering products
-
Adding products to the cart
-
Completing a purchase
-
Registering and logging in
-
Accessing the personal account area
-
Accessibility training across departments.
-
Quality assurance testing at each release.
-
Ongoing monitoring, including:
-
Automated weekly testing for high-level feedback
-
Weekly keyboard-only usage tests
-
Monthly testing by a visually impaired user
We acknowledge that some nonconformities with WCAG 2.1 AA still exist at low to medium severity in certain areas, including:
-
Missing alt text on some images and icons
-
Improper header structure in some content
-
Insufficient text-to-background contrast in limited areas
-
Footer display issues when resizing text to 200%
-
Insufficient contrast on some interactive input areas
-
Fast checkout unavailable for keyboard-only navigation
-
Some layout elements incorrectly tagged as headers
-
Occasional duplicate IDs on certain pages
These issues do not represent critical barriers when using assistive technology and will be resolved as quickly as possible.
